AirKleen is committed to safety, that’s why we’ve designed our system to prevent any exposure risk to passengers or maintenance personnel through various preventative mechanisms.

AirKleen’s Preventative Safety Measures

• Prevention of Direct UV-C Light Exposure

  Initially, the system is designed with serpentine overlapping air veins that block the direct light rays of our UV-C bulbs from the supply or return air connections.

• Battle Switches (Automatic Electrical Disconnects)

  These return and supply air connections are fitted with battle switches that will instantly shut off the system should these duct connections be disconnected. Our access cover which encloses our electronics is also fitted with multiple battle switches as well as a secondary cover that gives access to the inside of the APU where the UV-C lights are positioned.

• Tamper Proof Safety Fasteners

  While the main cabinet is all welded construction, both top access covers utilize safety screws that can only be opened via specialized tool.

• Accelerometer Safety Switch

  Our electronics are equipped with an accelerometer switch that will automatically shut the entire system down, should the bus be involved in a high impact accident or roll over condition.
